When you enter the building, the temperature begins to rise - but only just. The warmth of the fireplace barely reaches you at the door and cold seeping through the door sends shivers down your spine. A wooden bench to your right provides little comfort, should you even choose to sit. On the ground is a red carpet, leading to a desk piled high with loose papers and scattered books. There is a map of the wharf peeking out from beneath the mess. There are crates full of items and packages stuffed into the shelving at the front of the desk.
There's a room for Winter Guards who are on break located next to the cell (the one with the cozy bed). In here is spare weapons on the weapon rack, survival gear, back up pillows and blankets for the colder nights on the shelves, and there is a chest to protect any personal items that the Winter Guards have brought from their homes. The back door between the fire place and the desk in front of the cell leads to Inner Pagoma.
There sat a man at the desk, pale skin peppered with freckles and sharp horns. His black hair cascaded down his face, covering one teal eye. A fur cloak wrapped around his broad shoulders, encasing them in much needed warmth. His thin lips were pressed together as he sifted through the papers with his leather-clad hands. The colors of his clothing, along with the emblem of the sun fastened to his coat over his breast, indicated he was of the Pagoma Winter Guard. A staff with a large purplish-crystal ball leaned against the wall behind him, ready to be picked up at a moment's notice.
You have heard this man to go by the name of Yori or Yorik, short for his full name “Yorikvinto Jintog Ogurdar’gen”. This man was a hybrid: Half sil’nyy, half mewah. For those who enter Pagoma Customs, including you, he would always ask. “Are you here to pick up a package or would you like to send one?” and, should you say yes to either, he would hand you a piece of paper with pricing. Most light-weight packages are sent via raven, but this man was in charge of inspecting incoming packages, whether they are to be delivered to someone in Pagoma or to be sent to yet another destination. He is considered the more mature of the three main winter guards and often takes on a leader role.

He and the other two well-known winter guards often go on patrol together and board ships to check them to free any potential captives, rescue any animals that are under protection of Mewahen Law, and arrest any outlaws. In fact, many wanted posters line the walls of Pagoma Customs, both inside and out. They are more than happy to take anyone apprehended via citizen's arrest. Anyone arrested or any packages will be taken through the back door that leads to a forest of Inner Pagoma. The larger an animal is, the more likely it will be taken through the city gate on the wharf.
Outlaws who are caught, petty thieves, and violent drunks get thrown into the single cell within Pagoma Customs. The bed within the cell is the only piece of furniture, a wooden plank just large enough for a mewah to fit with a flat pillow and a thin blanket to help (but not really) keep the prisoner warm while they wait to either be bailed and/or freed, or until they are transferred to the main prison under the castle located in Inner Pagoma. Although there is a sewer grate in the middle of the cell, a guard is normally on watch and can stop an escape through the grate should the prisoner even manage to get it open.
Right now, the winter guard sitting at the desk across from the cell currently sports long dirty-blonde hair and her long mewahen ears are perked, her metal helmet encircling them. Her pale blue eyes were downcast at the moment, a quill scritching away as she wrote (what one could assume) a report with speed. A capelet of fur covering her shoulders to provide her warmth. The uniform she wore was similar to that of Yoriks but with extra metal plates for protection. The woman bore a sword at her hip with colors akin to the spellcasters staff. This guard's name is Becilova Lagok Angorah, often called Becky - a nickname given to her by her fellow Pagoma Guards. She is incredibly strong and can take heavy hits, even without her armor. Becilova often has an air of stoicism to her and will take her job seriously when she needs to.

By her side lay a white tiger with pale stripes giving a hearty yawn with razor-sharp teeth. Despite how dangerous this animal would be in the wild, Scotch the tiger is actually very friendly and enjoys a good scratch behind the ears or on his lower back. He obeys Becky without question and has a good nose for sniffing out contraband and finding hidden compartments on cargo ships. He is quick, powerful, and agile. He reflects his partner in every way, including her personality. He doesn’t play favoritism with the guards and will protect one when needed. In his downtime, when things are slow at work, he’ll sometimes curl up at the feet of another of the winter guards.
The remainder of the well-known winter guards is almost always on patrol or fast asleep in the room that’s closed to the public. When he is spotted, most people take note of his white-wolf headdress that is also used as a makeshift cloak. The dark skinned man has drooped mewahen ears, as opposed to Becky’s perked ones, and his eyes are always hidden behind his curly blue hair. He always carries a bow and a quiver full of arrows. His winter guard uniform is similar to his coworkers but he is clad in extra leather to protect himself and remain more flexible than someone who would wear armor made of metal.
Despite how quiet and serious he seems, he is kind and will answer any question or help anyone in need. His answers are normally short, however, as he isn’t very talkative, and it takes a while for him to give an answer as he thinks really hard on how to answer. The citizens who frequent the wharf believe that he actually calculates how short of an answer he can give before speaking. You ask his name? “Call me Zal.” But if you ask for his full name, he will give it: “Zalifao Minga Ramanan.” Ask for directions and he’ll point in the general area. If you let him know you need more help than that, rather than giving you specific directions, he will take the time to lead you to where you need to go. When you thank him, he’ll give you a short nod before going back to patrolling.
